It started with an egg…

Filed under: craft, creative!, sewing, toy — Tags: — bangkokmom @ 2:41 am

The K2 was pestering me to make her more felt toys. I whip stitched her a fried egg. Moments later, she came back to complain that the egg is too big for her frying pan. I did not know why I didn’t just sew her a smaller egg, but instead spend the next afternoon designing a non-stick cooking pan.

Then I thought it should need a matching spatula. And perhaps, some seasonings ?

The caps can be taken off the seasoning bottles and I punched holes in there to give it an authentic look . I already have the patterns so I made another set to post it in the shop. I also added a slip cover gas stove to complete the set. Just slip the gas stove cover over the airmail box and turn the box into a toy . After you finished playing with it , you can put everything back into the box.

My Roe Sushi

roesushi

I didn’t like the roe sushi I make a while back. The pattern was from a Japanese crafts book and it involves cutting out 15 tiny circles and then turning each of them into a ball. I replaced them with some red pompoms snipped off from a ribbon. Saves time and looks good.

There is also a salmon sushi in the making.

until you cut it up and scrape out all the insides.

This is what I do to facial foam tubes that could no longer be squeezed. The contents will last for another week of usage. I should win some Frugal Housewife Award.

or known to the locals as Wat Prayoon, is 180 years old. This temple dates back to King Rama III . We didn’t know that it was this old till we went to their temple fair last night. If you remembered , several months back there was a news story about a temple finding some long lost relics while fixing the pagoda ? This is the temple in the news. The relics and other Buddha images are now on display at their museum ( a small ancient Chinese building located outside the pagoda ) There are also old photographs on display ( I missed this area )

Too Many Hats…

Filed under: kids, thai — bangkokmom @ 1:12 am

One more week of the kids’ end-of-term school holidays. Meanwhile, I am being a “real” full time mom,  short order cook, teacher, referee, and sometimes dictator. I have time to sew just one strawberry coated felt donut.  I try not to make eye contact with the remote control. It will be so much easier to switch on Cartoon Network and claim that they are learning English from … Ed, Edd, n Eddy ?  Must. Not. Do. That.

The Kid read her first English story book. When I showed it to her, she wasn’t very enthusiastic about it. She bargained to read just 3 pages / day. On the second day the story got funny and she read over 20 pages. She finished the story on the third day. Thank you Amber Brown, the part on the nose picking dentist was what got the engine started.

Happy Moon

Filed under: Uncategorized — bangkokmom @ 2:41 am

Didn’t get to blog about everyday life these days. I guess everybody popped out their windows to look at the happy moon, so cute. I wonder if any one checked the moon the following night ? She turned into this long, banana-face , sad expression. ( The Tuesday night photo is photoshopped to the best of my memory as I didn’t have the camera with me. )

Watch out for the next happy moon on March 14, 2012.

The Circus is Over …

Filed under: thai — bangkokmom @ 2:06 am

at least until Dec 8. This is so crazy. From what I understand, the PADs declare their final “war” on the government  to prevent them from amending the constitution ( some clause on dissolving party ). Then it dragged on for 8 days !! The first 2 days was like watching a game of cat and mouse, with the PADs trying to locate the PM who is to return from Peru. The next couple of days we watch the live broadcasts from the PM, but there were no quick conclusion in the horizon. I think talking about the 30 baht health care, the mega-projects during this time is a bad decision. When I saw him all dressed up attending some Chiang Mai festival, I gave up. The PADs are equally energy-draining. I tune into their radio station and they seem to be having a ball at Suvananbhum. Lots of singing and cheerings, autograph signings from the leaders. arai-wa ?!

All this and the new list of potential candidates for PM. Amongst them, there is the ex-policeman. Is this a sick joke ?? Then the guy famous for turning an opportunity into a crisis.  ack.
