Bye Bye Bookstores, Hello Chicken Pox

Filed under: kids — bangkokmom @ 2:07 pm

This is the chicken pox season and we are very much in trend. The Kid caught it . Since she had a vaccination couple years ago, the symptoms were very mild. There was no fever and the poxes are a joke compared to what we had when we were kids. They look more like mosquito bites, not those pus-filled  bubble wrap poppers  I picked on when my mom wasn’t  looking.

Return of the Dust Storm

Filed under: renovations — bangkokmom @ 2:04 pm

big-holeThe house is undergoing the final stages of drilling. By far, this one is the most intense as it involves taking out a section of a floor. The dust is so bad that our rabbit who is allowed to roam around the house has turned into a dust bunny. I don’t bring the kids home after their morning classes, instead we all go sit it out at bookstores. It will take about 4 days for the hole to reach to the other end.

Hi There !

That was one unbelievable Songkran, very intense. We want Songkran to be fun for the kids but at the same time, we don’t feel much fun inside ? Were we glad when one of The Husband’s friends asked if we like to go to beach. It was good to escape the city and look at this sea giant instead :

I imagine she’s singing opera in the middle of the ocean. The kids did have loads of fun. We get to catch up on the night time news only. On the way back , his friend took us to a restaurant called ” Kieng Nam”. It stands elevated from the river banks. In the mud below, there are walking fish ( pla teen, see picture below ) and one-clawed crabs. Those crabs have an air of narcissistic arrogance in them walking around with one huge claw the size of their own body. I wonder if they are in our “nam prick poo long” ( The name may not sound very appetizing, but it is very tasty ! It is a creamy coconut milky dipping sauce eaten with fresh veggies. May I add, there are crabs , not crap , in them.)
