Remember the big hole   post?  Now it looks like this :

We asked them to leave us a corner so we can access the balcony outside. The carpenters team is working along with the electricians. They are doing wiring !!! I see telephone lines !!!  After all the carpentry work are done , the painters will come back and give the house a finally coat .

With all that alcohol spritzings I do to stay germs-free and being the only freako who wears a face mask in the internet cafe, I get The Germ of the Year delivered home by the little one. Her school called and asked us to pick her up because she was running a high fever ( 38 deg cel ). When we got there, the teacher has packed up all her stuffs – pillow, sleeping mattress, apron, towels, plus a week’s worth of homework … a pretty clear sign that says ” Don’t ! Come ! Back !!”
 
The symptoms were as what our Dr. Sister-in-law told us. Three days of high fever followed by coughing. The little  one played on as usual, oblivious to her own burning fever. The Kid, who was kept home from school, just in case,  caught it two days later. During which, I terrorized her with my fruits + vegetables smoothie drinks, which may I add, is filled with phytochemicals and is good for your immunity system.

On the third day, we took the little one to the hospital for a check up. The doc didn’t confirm it was the 2009 flu, but the symtoms were most likely. To be 100% sure , we can get a lab test done , but that will cost an additional 3000 bht. He also said if she’s active then we don’t have to worry. Just take care of her like she’s got a flu. So we did just that.

While in the hospital, I was quite shocked to see the amount of people there in the pediatric’s ward. It was just 10 in the morning and each doctor has already treated 15+ patients. It makes one think what the actual number of infections is. I thought The Husband and I will both fall sick , but nothing dramatic happened. We both got a sore throat which lasted for 2 days and that was it.

Now everything is back to normal. School has re-opened ( it shut down for a week ). All I can say is take good care of yourself. If your immunity system is strong, you’ll be okay. Besides frequent handwashings as campaigned on TV,  eat lots of fruits and veggies, sleep early, and exercise . The flu is in the air, you can’t rely on others to save you, find ways to save yourself.

I  thought the guy who rapped out loud in the internet cafe was peculiar, not to mention , hilariously funny. Then I got to sit next to a lady who belted out a Teresa Teng song ( the one about the moon ). What weirdos these people are, I thought … until the day I slapped on a face mask. I received the same look I gave that Teresa Teng fangirl.

Okay, it may also be that I disrupted their concentration by spraying rubbing alcohol on all surface area in my compartment… feverishly wiping down keyboard/mouse/desk … spraying the air around me whenever somebody sneezes/coughs ( I do give it a 15 secs grace period before I reach for my bottle of alcohol. )

Furniture Fairs. Sometimes they are called “Home Decorations Fair”, “Home Expo and Living Concept”, “Modern Furniture Fair”, “Furniture Grand Sale” … The same sellers popped up at each of them. It’s just the same fair going on with a different name !!

high speed internet for keeping me entertained with youtube vdos on Russell Brand , David Letterman , and make-up tutorials. Without you, I will be  back home , listening to the construction workers sanding the parquet floor back to life and inhaling all the wood dust. ( My rabbit’s turned red this round. )

When my house is fully renovated, hi-speed internet,  you must come live with me.  And we shall live happily ever after.

With the tutoring classes over and the chicken pox done, it’s time to escape the heat and stimulate the kids’ growth hormones. They have about a month left of summer holidays, so afternoon swimming lessons will be the plan until the school term starts. We just keep our fingers crossed that it will not rain on lesson days, because with rain clouds this big , it’s better not to go anywhere …  :

Anyways, if the weather permits, we get to enjoy a much nicer schedule since we no longer come back home in the afternoons when the heat is at brain-simmering level. Then, everyone would want to be in the room with the air-con on, and we’ll just coop up in there till morning. You know, you can easily get headaches just from walking in and out of the room. I’m guessing it have to do with the temperature change ? It’s 25 deg cel in the room, 37-38 deg cel outside, walk in and out of the room and the nerves in your brain will short-circuit.

This is the chicken pox season and we are very much in trend. The Kid caught it . Since she had a vaccination couple years ago, the symptoms were very mild. There was no fever and the poxes are a joke compared to what we had when we were kids. They look more like mosquito bites, not those pus-filled  bubble wrap poppers  I picked on when my mom wasn’t  looking.

The house is undergoing the final stages of drilling. By far, this one is the most intense as it involves taking out a section of a floor. The dust is so bad that our rabbit who is allowed to roam around the house has turned into a dust bunny. I don’t bring the kids home after their morning classes, instead we all go sit it out at bookstores. It will take about 4 days for the hole to reach to the other end.
